King Johns Castle
Kings Island in the ancient city of Limerick was a thriving Viking settlement. It was the gateway to the lands of Munster to the east and Connacht to the west. The city was enclosed by a town wall and King John’s Castle formed part of this defensive wall.
Take a step back in time and explore the castle and its lively history. The app looks at the development of the castle, its infamous namesake King John who inspired Victorian fiction writers to cast him as the villain in the Robin Hood legends, and the three sieges of Limerick.
